The number of startups in Indonesia had increased. Nowadays, MCIT has a plan to produce 1.000 technopreneurs by 2020. This policy supports the development of Indonesia’s digital economy. MCIT hold the seminar with a target of 8.000 participants. Fortunately, almost 32.000 startups had registered to join this program from 2016 until now. This program was held in 10 cities such as Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Yogyakarta, Semarang, Malang, Medan, Bali, Makassar, and Pontianak. MCIT had appointed KIBAR as a vendor to implement this program.
They must follow many steps such as idea solution, incubation, and
acceleration. 1000 technopreneurs has 5 stages:
- Ignition, at the Ignition stage, participants are expected to gain insight into how the right mindset will move them, take advantage of the potential of Indonesia and turn it into a solution to solve the nation's problems through a digital startup.
- Workshop, Participants can map out existing problems and understand the most appropriate solution to solve the problem, in addition, the participants can create a business model based on the ideas he has made.
- Hackathon, At this stage, each participant will be asked to form a team of 3-5 people. Each participant must find a partner to complete the required skills in setting up a startup. There are 3 types of partners needed in forming a startup that is hacker, hipster, and hustler.
- Bootcamps The main objective of Bootcamp is for each team to test their pre-made prototype (hackathon), build a strategy to launch their digital products and be able to develop the product to be ready to be marketed to the public.
- Incubation, What they want to achieve from the incubation stage is that the selected startup can develop their product until it is ready to be marketed, helping selected startups to start looking for partners who will be invited to work together to further develop their startup.
Until now, 6500 participants join the coaching program in ten cities and 123 startups had through incubation stages. For this year, MCIT focused on 5 sectors that had the opportunities to solve the problems. There are agriculture, education, health, tourism, and logistics. We hope that many startups can solve the real problems In Indonesia and had a sustainability model as a business. For the next step, every city will focus its sectors based on uniqueness and local content.
This program is not just to create 1000 technopreneurs but to make an impact directly on the citizens. So, the program must have standardization for each stage. From training enabled startups, I will get knowledge and skill to create the sustainability startups and can make standardization process for each stage and do mapping of prioritizing sector every city in Indonesia. The standardization process can increase the participant's quality, model, and mentor/trainer.
